First Flight Since 9/11

Well, it looks like I am heading down to San Diego in a couple of weeks to pick up a new car for my folks. Spent quite a bit of time last night looking at air fairs from SFO to San Diego. I actually bought my ticket in very little time (man, I love travelocity), but spent awhile reading through all the travel restrictions and security precuations as a result of 9/11. Let's just say I am not entirely convinced that airport security is any better than it was before 9/11. I get the feeling from all the government reports I read that most of the efforts you can see are largely window dressing. We'll see in a couple of weeks. It will be my first flight since September.

Sleep Deprivation

You know you're tired when you can't remember one thing you did this morning. This has been an interesting week.

Time for a Real "Blast Off

So, you get tired of the typical Starbucks drivel that is out there on every street corner and long for something stronger. Re-enetering my pantry this weekend is Thanksgiving Coffee's Pony Express, an old favorite from my days @ Humboldt.

Just think, twice the caffeine than your average coffee bean. Perfect for the all night build sessions I have been putting myself through.

Spaced Out

Word on the street has it that Space.com is about to feel the cold temperatures of deep space. More layoffs have brought this interesting, but money losing portal to its knees.

A little more on the death of PGP

C|Net posted a little more information on NAI's decision to discontinue distribution of the commercial PGP application. It sounds like the freeware version will continue to be available.

Server Progress

The first of many 18 hour days just ended. Note to self... Site redesigns and rearchitectures require lot's of coffee. Yawn.

No more PGP

It seems that Network Associates has quietly decided to discontinue Pretty Good Privacy. That just bums me out. There goes the encrypted email world I have grown so accustomed to.

Linux keeps morphin faster than them Power Rangers®

Sony began taken orders for a $200.00 developer kit that allows Linux to run on PlayStation 2. While this is cool, it makes me wonder what's coming next...a Linux powered toaster? Can we say Coffee, Tea or Command Line Toast?

Bookmark Blues

So, what would you do if you accidently trashed 5 years of research in the form of User Experience and Usability links from your browser bookmark file? What if that file was unrecoverable?

Well, it happened to me. Five years worth of my professional resources on the web went bye, bye over the weekend. I am very bummed.
